A Special Celebration of the Vat Phou Festival

This year also celebrates the 15th anniversary since Vat Phou was assigned the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Vat Phou Festival takes place every year on the 15th day of the waning moon of the third month. It is the largest festival in the province and one of the largest in the entire country.

People from around Laos and neighbouring countries such as Thailand gather at the ancient Vat Phou temple complex to pray and take part in various ceremonies. Throughout the week, festival goers can enjoy traditional dancing, concerts, local arts and crafts. The sights and sounds are sure to stimulate the senses.
