A Plastic-free Southern Laos

On November 14, 2018, the provincial Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism or DICT of Champasak launched its “Plastic-free Southern Laos” campaign at Pakse Hotel. The agenda for this event was to raise awareness about Laos’ plastic problem and in attendance were 40 members of the private sector from the hotel and tourism industry. This event was a collaboration between the Southern Laos brand and RefillNotLandfill, a company that started in Cambodia with the aim to revolutionize how tourists use plastics in countries where most of the trash ends up in landfills, or worse, on the streets. Reusable water bottles were given as tokens for the participants and are available for sale at selected establishments in Southern Laos.
