Southern Laos Tourism Marketing Network and Swisscontact

Our home, Southern Laos, is a fascinating destination and we are proud to help visitors experience the region we love. Our unique culture, jaw-dropping natural landscapes and warm, welcoming people come together in countless different ways, creating genuine experiences of a lifetime.

Central to our collaboration as the Southern Laos Marketing Network is a shared belief that tourism can bring many benefits both locally and nationally. We promote socially equitable and environmentally sustainable tourism, so these benefits can be enjoyed by everyone, without damaging our rich natural environment or drowning out our culture.

In 2013 we formed the Southern Laos Tourism Marketing Network. Our network brings together representatives of the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism of Champasak (DICT), as well as the Champasak Hotel and Restaurant Association (CHRA), the Champasak Travel Agent Association (CTAA) and Lao Airlines.

Our work is facilitated through the Champasak Tourism Business Development Project (CTBP). Operating since 2013, this project supports small and medium enterprises with technical and vocational education and training, tourism product development and marketing, as well as overall destination management. Through this project we hope to grow a thriving, sustainable, socially inclusive economy for the people of Southern Laos.

The CTBP project is funded and managed by Swisscontact (, a Swiss-based non-profit foundation with more than 50 years of experience working to promote sustainable and socially equitable private sector development in 30 countries worldwide.
