Bolaven Plateau

Mystic Mountain Coffee – Jeep Safari

An original way to discover the cool, green mountains of the Bolaven Plateau. Explore coffee plantations, remote waterfalls, and Laven and Suay villages by jeep and on foot for an unforgettable experience. An alternative to the typical Bolaven Plateau itineraries, this tour is an adventure into a part of the region far from tourist crowds.

Only 1 hour (50km) by car from Pakse, the region of Paksong offers an immersion in nature. During the journey Mr. Khamsone – your English speaking guide and a coffee farm owner himself – will share with you the secrets of coffee production from field to cup, finishing with an unmissable tasting session of several locally grown varieties. Trek through the plantations then enjoy a picnic lunch by a mountain river. In the afternoon, travel by jeep along rural roads to visit vegetable fields and swim at impressive waterfalls in the far reaches of the plateau.

This tour is possible at any time of year but is particularly recommended during the dry season, November – June, as you will be able to see every stage of coffee production at this time. In the rainy season the coffee fruit is still green so only the first steps of the process can be observed. The other highlights – waterfalls, local villages and the stunning natural beauty of the area – can be enjoyed all year round.
